Expert Moves Decoded
Turn expertise into repeatable actions anyone can follow

Today (in 2 mins or less) we're diving into how to break down expert-level moves into steps anyone can execute.
The Experience Recipe: Making Expertise Transferable with 4 Steps
Watch a master chef work.
They grab ingredients without measuring. Season without tasting. Know exactly when to flip the pan. Years of experience compressed into fluid motion.
Now imagine capturing that expertise in a format others can actually use.
The Experience Recipe Format does exactly that. Four components that transform "trust your gut" into "follow these steps."
Context sets the stage
Start by defining when this move applies.
A sales expert might say "use this when a prospect goes silent after seeing pricing." A designer might say "apply this when clients ask for 'something more modern.'"
Context eliminates guesswork. Your audience knows immediately if this applies to their situation.
Trigger identifies the moment
Experts react to subtle cues others miss. Make these visible.
"When the dough springs back slowly after pressing" beats "when the dough feels right."
"When three follow-up emails get ignored" beats "when they seem uninterested."
Specific triggers let beginners spot the same opportunities experts see instinctively.
Action provides the response
Here's where most advice fails. Experts say "build rapport" or "add visual interest."
Better to say "mention something specific from their LinkedIn posts in your opening line" or "increase white space between sections by 50%."
Actions need to be so specific that two people following them get similar results.
Adjustment enables calibration
Expertise means adapting on the fly. Build this into your recipe.
"If they respond with short answers, switch to yes/no questions."
"If the design still feels cramped, try removing every third element."
Adjustments teach people to think like experts while still following a framework.
Every skill you've mastered contains dozens of these recipes. Most people never extract them. They stay locked in your head, helping only you.
The Experience Recipe Format changes that. Your expertise becomes a playbook others can run.
Time to start documenting.
