But now onto this week’s templates!

Your Journey Template

Why It Works

  1. It’s personal: We love hearing about other people’s journeys when they reveal the details.

  2. Easy to consume: Quick bullet points are easy to read

Template

My [topic] journey:

  • [Year 1]: [Result 1]

  • [Year 2]: [Result 2]

  • [Year 3]: [Result 3]

  • [Year 4]: [Result 4]

  • [Year 5]: [Result 5]

  • [Year 6]: [Projected result]

It's not about [irrelevant or vanity result].

It's about [key takeaway].

Start now & you'll be thrilled in [future timeframe].

Our Example

My indie SaaS creator journey:

  • Year 1: $5k MRR

  • Year 2: $18k MRR

  • Year 3: $46k MRR

  • Year 4: $100k MRR

  • Year 5: $250k+ MRR (proj.)

It’s not about where you are on Day 1.

It’s about just not stopping.

Start now and you’ll be thrilled in 5 years.

Success Story Template

Post Inspiration

Why It Works

It’s a story: People love stories, especially about successful people. They’re fun to read and easy to consume.

Template

I LOVE [whatever your story is based on].

This one’s a good one: [The storyline in one sentence].

The [founders/creators/owners] are [names], [quick impressive fact].

Here’s their story 👇🏻

Our Example

I LOVE the early days of Silicon Valley startups.

This one’s a good one: Airbnb was started by three designers blowing up air mattresses in their living room to pay rent.

The founders are Brian, Nathan, and Joe and the company’s worth $100 billion.

Here’s their story👇🏻

Lessons Learned Template

Post Inspiration

Why It Works

  1. Educational: People love learning from reputable sources within a particular niche. Share your knowledge.

  2. Formatting: The spaced-out lines make it easy to read with only one point per line.

Template

If you’re an experienced [your role], this is a useful reminder.

If you're a rookie [your role], this is a foundational lesson.

[One-liner lesson]

That’s why the best way to [verb your role needs to do] is:

  1. [First step to do it]

  2. [Second step to do it]

Worth noting: this applies to more than just [your domain]. It’s a universal [descriptor related to your domain] principle. [Another example].

[Reworded short lesson one more time].

Remind yourself of this often.

Our Example

If you’re an experienced founder, this is a useful reminder.

If you’re a rookie founder, this is a foundational lesson.

Hire slow and fire fast.

The best way to do this is:

  1. Have an extensive interview process that allows only the best talent to get through.

  2. Re-evaluate after 30 and 90 days. It’s better for both parties to move on right away. Rip the bandaid off.

Worth noting: this applies to more than just hiring. If you’re looking for a partner, moving on right away when you know they’re not the one is best.

Hire slow, fire fast.

Remind yourself of this often.
