Lessons Learned Template

Why It Works

  1. People love learning from reputable sources within a particular niche. Share your knowledge.

  2. The spaced-out lines make reading easy with only one point per line.

The Template

If you’re an experienced [your domain], this is a useful reminder.

If you're a rookie [your domain], this is a foundational lesson.

[Short lesson]

That’s why the best way to [verb in the lesson] is:

  1. [First way to do said lesson]

  2. [Second way to do said lesson]

Worth noting: this applies to more than just [your domain]. It’s a universal [adjective] principle. [Give another example].

[Short lesson one more time]

Remind yourself of this often.

Our Example

If you’re an experienced founder, this is a useful reminder.

If you’re a rookie founder, this is a foundational lesson.

Hire slow and fire fast.

The best way to do this is:

  1. Have an extensive interview process that allows only the best talent to get through.

  2. Once onboard, if in the first three months the employee isn’t a fit (or faster), it’s better for both parties to move on right away. Rip the bandaid off.

Worth noting: this applies to more than just hiring. If you’re looking for a partner, moving on right away when you know they’re not the one is best.

Hire slow, fire fast.

Remind yourself of this often.
